The Local Government Board has agreed to request that the Regional Ministry of Innovation, Industry, Trade and Tourism initiate the appropriate procedures for the Certamen Internacional de Bandas de Música Ciudad de València to be declared a Festival of Tourist Interest of the Valencian Community.
This agreement, adopted at the initiative of the Councillor for Cultural Action, Heritage and Cultural Resources, José Luis Moreno, and the Councillor for Tourism, Paula Llobet,“promotes recognition of the competition and of its contribution to the dissemination of wind band music.” According to the proposal, “this cultural event has contributed to the promotion of culture and musical tradition and has evolved to acquire its own distinct identity within the programme of the July Fair.”
The proposal also states that “through this declaration, the Valencia City Council seeks to elevate the Certamen Internacional de Bandas de Música Ciudad de València to the status of a leading tourist attraction, given its significant tourism impact and its role as a magnet for visitors. At the same time, it is a cultural event that brings together people from diverse backgrounds through the universal language of music, making it an occasion in which the principles of tolerance and coexistence are strongly present.”
In addition to approvingthis request, the local government has also agreed to submit all documentationrequired under current regulations to the regional administration and toauthorise the Municipal Secretariats to sign the application.
